Welcome students!

This is your professor Mr.Pickett saying hello to you. In the future, you will use this site as an alternative to typing responses to the essays in your Norton Sampler. I will also use this site for helpful links that will enhance our learning. Please be respectful of each other and this website. Remember, you're still in class on here.

Mr. Pickett, I liked the topic and content of the reading assignment; reasons being that Mr. Lederer pointed out a lot of examples in the English language that are difficult to understand, especially if you are just learning English. I work around people all the time and they sometimes ask me some of the very same questions that Mr. Lederer was posing to his readers. Most exclaim the same thing; English doesn't make sense. Also, I think the naming of different berries and different words that should have same meanings, don't; some words that mean the same have irregular words to represent them(words).
I found myself at times saying in agreement "yeah, how come that is so?". Makes me wonder why we even try to stress so much emphasis on being proper at utilizing English. Of course, I do know that all societies and cultures are interactive, and we also must conform a little bit in order to survive.
